We call it the little sister of Château La Cardonne, Remparts de La Cardonne, and many of the innovations in our winemaking techniques begin here.
On a particular vintage we may be testing cold fermentation versus temperature controlled fermentation, malolactic fermentation in barrels versus stainless steel tanks, or micro oxygenation. We also experiment with different toasting levels in barrels, and different filtering levels prior to bottling.
What’s most interesting is that each year, in blind tastings, the majority of tasters recognise Remparts as Château La Cardonne, which tells us that with rigorous vineyard management, our terroir and mother nature continue to play the most important part in our winemaking.
Remparts de La Cardonne is generally vinified with 55% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc, delivering a rich and fruit forward style with smooth silky tannins.
Today vintages from 2008 to 2011 are currently being enjoyed in over 40 countries around the world.
